Inside the cabin
Smoky Mountain Splendor is perched on a wooded .62-acre lot in the quiet Crest View neighborhood, which gives it more privacy than any of our other cabins. The wrap-around deck looks straight out at the mountains; the nightly star and firefly show is best from the private upper deck or the small patio off the lower level.
Hardwood floors run throughout except the loft, under a tongue-and-groove pine cathedral ceiling and an oversized stone gas fireplace. Two king master suites, one on the main level and one below, each have their own gas log fireplace, whirlpool tub and a private bath with custom double vanities, tile floors and a walk-in shower with a seat. The living room has a pull-out sofa.
Upstairs, the partially walled loft serves as the third bedroom and the media room: a queen bed in the corner, a shuffleboard table, a high-definition TV, an electric fireplace and a full bath. A walk-in closet off the lower suite became the kids’ cave, with a Pack ’n Play and a cot.

From your hosts
We fell in love with the area the first time we visited, when our two children were very young. There is so much to do that nobody gets bored, and our own favorite activity is still relaxing on the deck with the view.
- A wheelchair ramp runs from the parking area to the deck, and the French door from the back deck opens to a wide entry (33 inches with one door open; the front door is 32 inches, the bedroom door 30). The cabin is not ADA compliant: there is a small bump at the threshold and no turning radius in the bathroom.
- Pets are welcome. The pet fee is per pet, per stay, so tell us how many are coming.
- Parking fits three large vehicles or four small ones. The driveway is steep for a very short stretch; you can see it at the start of the video tour.
- The fire pit is out back, with horseshoe pits nearby.
- The seasonal outdoor pool is at Honeysuckle campground, about 14 minutes down Wears Valley Road, and admission is included with your stay, along with the year-round catch-and-release fishing pond.
- We do not take one-night bookings; two nights is the minimum.
- There is an additional charge for any adult beyond six.
